He whines and complains, but is clearly intelligent and calculating about what he shares with the reader and the people he meets. I love that he is clever and brave but also very flawed. The magus wants Gen to steal a treasure for him, and Gen agrees (he really doesn't have much of a choice.). Luckily he gains gains the attention of the wise man or magus to the king of Sounis, in whose prisons he is being held. Unfortunately for him, he boasts about his abilities a little too loudly and lands himself in prison. Gen "Eugenides" claims that he can steal anything. Their journey toward the treasure is both dangerous and difficult, lightened only imperceptibly by the tales they tell of the old gods and goddesses. What Gen is interested in is anyone's guess. The magus is interested only in the thief's abilities. To attain it for his king, he needs a skillful thief, and he selects Gen from the king's prison. The first section of the book is about Harry seeing the Quidditch World Cup, and the rest about the Tri-Wizard Tournament that takes place at Hogwarts, with a series of difficult tests for four contestants from different schools.īut JK Rowling is worth a re-read, it seems. I particularly felt that the ending was too dark for a children's book, but thought the rest of it a bit dull too. He has no empathy for others or remorse for his actions. Killian Carson doesn’t process emotions like the rest of the world. I have a feeling this entire series is going to involve lots of book hangovers.
